Starting the New Year by Giving Back: A January Website Giveaway for One Nonprofit

By Raul Escobedo January 1, 2026

January is usually about fresh starts, new goals, and setting the tone for the year ahead. While many people focus on resolutions and growth, I wanted to begin this year by focusing on something else: giving back in a way that creates real, long-term impact.

Throughout January, Raul’s Web Studio LLC will be accepting applications from nonprofits for a free starter website build, designed to help one organization start the year with a stronger digital foundation.

Why this matters

Nonprofits do some of the hardest, most meaningful work out there.

They organize events.

They support families.

They serve communities.

They show up when people need help the most.

But despite all that effort, one thing I see over and over again is this:

their websites don’t reflect the impact they’re making.

  • The site is outdated or hard to navigate
  • The mission isn’t clearly explained
  • Donating feels confusing
  • Volunteers don’t know where to start

And it’s not because they don’t care — it’s because time, budget, and resources are always stretched thin. Updating the website keeps getting pushed down the list.

This January, I want to help change that for one nonprofit.

What’s included in the January giveaway

One selected nonprofit will receive:

1. A Free Nonprofit Starter Website

Raul’s Web Studio LLC will design and build a modern, easy-to-manage starter website that includes:

  • A clear hero section explaining who you are and who you serve
  • Your mission and story written in simple, approachable language
  • Space to highlight your programs, services, or initiatives
  • Clear calls-to-action for donating, volunteering, or getting in touch
  • Mobile-friendly design for phones, tablets, and desktops
  • Basic on-page SEO (page titles, headings, structure, and metadata)

The design and build are completely free.

Once the site is live, the nonprofit will only be responsible for standard monthly hosting and maintenance, just like any other client website.

2. A Feature Blog Post Highlighting Your Organization

In addition to the website, I’ll write a feature blog post spotlighting the selected nonprofit. This post will:

  • Share your mission and story
  • Highlight the people or communities you serve
  • Explain why your work matters
  • Link directly to your website, donation page, or volunteer signup

The post will be shared across Raul’s Web Studio LLC channels to help bring more awareness and support your way.

3. A 30-Minute Marketing Strategy Call

Once the website is underway, we’ll schedule a 30-minute strategy call focused on realistic, nonprofit-friendly marketing.

During the call, we’ll:

  • Review your current online presence (website, search, social)
  • Talk through ways to drive more traffic, donations, or volunteers
  • Identify a few simple actions you can take with your existing resources

No overwhelming to-do lists — just clear, practical next steps.

Who this is for

This opportunity is ideal for nonprofits that:

  • Have a clear mission and active programs
  • Have no website, or a site that’s outdated or not effective
  • Are willing to collaborate and respond during the project
  • Want their website to be a real tool — not just an online brochure

Organizations serving local communities, youth, families, wellness, education, or mission-driven causes are especially encouraged to apply, but all nonprofits are welcome.

How the January process works

  • Applications open: January 1
  • How to apply: Fill out the short form at the bottom of this page (takes under 1 minute)
  • Application deadline: January 31 at 11:59 PM

After the deadline:

  • All applications will be reviewed
  • One nonprofit will be selected for the full website package
  • The selected organization will be contacted directly
  • The announcement will be shared publicly
  • A kickoff call will be scheduled, and the project will begin

The goal is to have the new website and feature content live shortly after.

If you apply but aren’t selected

If your organization applies and isn’t chosen, you won’t be forgotten.

Depending on interest, Raul’s Web Studio may:

  • Offer discounted nonprofit website packages, or
  • Invite select applicants to a short marketing checkup call with quick-win recommendations

Either way, applying puts your organization on my radar — and I’ll do my best to provide value where I can.

Ready to start the year strong?

If your nonprofit has been making do with an outdated website — or no website at all — this is your chance to finally fix that.

Apply by January 31 for a chance to receive a free nonprofit starter website and begin the year with clarity, confidence, and momentum.
